Taiwan's government will help light-emitting diode (LED) manufacturers upgrade their technologies and find more local and overseas customers to increase their business.
Taiwan's LED industry is facing increasing threats from Koreaand the Chinese mainland. To respond, LED manufacturers should make products with higher capability-to-price ratio, higher quality and more stability. Product diversification and flexibility are equally important and are to be made possible by an upgrade in technology.
The government intends to help LED operators based on five principles, namely “technology breakthrough,” “investment in key technologies,” “environmental upgrade,” “export expansion” and “augmentation of domestic demand.”
It will also help Taiwanoperators expand business in the mainlandand find collaborative opportunities with their mainland counterparts
The government has contributed to the formation of an intellectual property bank in September to help manufacturers fight IP-related wars waged by international competitors.
