Presently, some 13,500 tons of waste are dumped into Hong Kong’s three landfills every day, yet those landfills will reach capacity in 2014, 2016 and 2018 respectively. One principal gave up his HK$100,000 monthly salary to become a volunteer tutor, so that he could make his own contribution to bridging the widening income-education gap. Doug Meigs reports.
